Sandra R Fowler Workplace Diversity Expert
Sandra R. Fowler, a speaker and consultant, has more than 27 years of experience in the commercial real estate and construction industry. She has successfully managed development, consulting and portfolios for commercial/office, retail, multi-family housing, economic development, transportation and complex urban, mixed-use projects. Ms. Fowler has led diverse teams for more than 20 years, mastering the delicate balancing act of productively managing employees of different cultures and backgrounds. She currently provides business development/strategy, planning and construction management expertise in multi-unit, large-scale community development projects. In her consulting, she ensures the inclusion of minority contractors and is dedicated to making sure that everyone has a place at the table.

A Life Legacy Member of the National Council of Negro Women, she oversaw interior renovations of the organization’s historic headquarters at 7th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, the former site of the “Center Slave Market” that served to inspire abolitionists to fight for freedom and justice for all people. Most recently, she served as Vice President of Asset Management for the National Capital Revitalization Corporation, a public/private corporation in Washington, DC, where she was responsible for over $500 million in assets and over $1 billion in construction projects. Previously, Ms. Fowler served as a Senior Manager of Business Development for J.A. Jones/Tompkins Builders, where she was responsible for $500-$600 million in new business development for the Washington, DC office. She has also served as a consultant to World Hotels and Resorts, an Assistant Superintendent for the George A. Fuller Construction Company, and as Vice President of Project Management for MMP International where she managed prestigious and award winning projects.

Ms. Fowler served on the National Political Congress of Black Women’s search committee to find African Americans for political appointment for the Clinton Administration’s first term. The committee recommended candidates to serve as agency leaders at varying levels – from agency secretary to senior management. She also received a Presidential appointment as a delegate to the White House Conference on Small Business. In 1995, she successfully lobbied Congress to extend the National Guard’s Program for At-Risk-Youth-ChalleNGE.

Ms. Fowler was the recipient of the distinguished Bethune-Dubois Eagle Award for recognition of outstanding service in helping disadvantaged children attend and complete college. She received her B.S. in Architecture from Tuskegee University and studied communications for two years at the University of South Carolina.
